Enugu Rangers Win First Nigerian Cup Since 1983

Enugu Rangers staged a thrilling come back from 3 goals down to beat Kano Pillars on penalties and win the First Nigeria Cup since 1983.

Kano Pillars who took lead less than 5 minutes into the game through Skipper Rabiu Ali, before Nigeria Under20 midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim scored directly from a corner and Nwagua Nyima netted shortly after half time.

Pillars look to becruising to their first ever cup triumph when they led 3-0 with just 13 Minutes to play at the Stephen keshi Stadium in Asaba.

But the Kelvin Itoya Screamer from the edge of the box  beat goalkeeper David Obiozo to give Rangers a glimmer of hope.

The flying Antelopes make the game even moreinteresting in the 82 Minutes when Chidera Ezeh made it 3-2 and Substitute Ajani Ibrahim brave diving header Restored Parity in injury time.

Former KanoPillars defender Isaac Loute Completed the Rangers revival, Scoring the decisive penalty to win the shoot-out 4-2.

Rangers will represent Nigeria in the CAF confederationcup after claiming their 6th Nigeria cup in total and pocketing a cash prize 25millions Naira ($69,000).
