Bet9ja NNL Promotion Saga Continues As Remo Stars And Others Withdraw From Promotion Playoff

All seems not be well with the Nigeria Football bodies as the 8 teams promotion saga continues when we thought things have been settled between the NFF, League Management Company and Bet9ja Nigeria National League, NNL in agreeing to play promotion playoff to send the four promoted teams for the commencement of various leagues.

But it seems the saga will continue as clubs involved in the promotion playoff pulled out from the tournament, Remo Stars FC were the first to release a press statement, the statement is as follows.

“Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) will not be honouring the upcoming Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super 8 competition scheduled to hold on the 15th of December, 2018, in Aba, Abia State.

On the 24th of November, decisions were reached by the NNL league board during the Annual General Assembly (AGA) held at NERA Hotel Jabi, Abuja indicating all eight (8) teams will be promoted to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Following the earlier decision made, we (Remo Stars) have now noticed that the Nigeria National League (NNL) is no longer going by the earlier decision made to promote all eight (8) and we have therefore decided on our part not to honour the scheduled NNL Super 8 in Aba.

The Sky Blue Stars finished top of Group B2 in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League (Bet9jaNNL) with two (2) points ahead of Delta Force FC.

While the other clubs also pulled out of the promotion playoff insisting of the all the Eight promoted teams to the Nigeria top flight Football which was rejected by the League Management company,LMC and the Nigeria Professionals Football League Clubs owners.

Some are insisting that four clubs from the Nigeria Professionals Football League must be relegated to the Nigeria national league before they will agree to play the promotion playoff.
