CAF Under20 Cup: Nigeria Off To Flying Start With A Warning Signal To Niger And South Africa

Goals From Yahaya Nazifi and Maxwell Effiong in the second half sealed the victory for Nigeria Flying Eagles in their CAF Under20 Nations Cup Game Opener against Burundi .

Flying Eagles break the deadlock in the 55 minutes when Yahaya Nazifi scored the opener from a header before Maxwell Effiong double the lead for the Flying Eagles in the 71st minutes.

Flying Eagles only need a win in their second game against South Africa whom drew with host Niger Republic in the first game of the tournament to book a world cup spot.

 

Paul Aigbogun’s wards were full value for their three points and the draw between Niger Republic and South Africa means the Flying Eagles would earn a spot in the semi finals of the competition and a ticket to this summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Poland if they defeat South Africa on Tuesday evening.

Niger Republic will play Burundi on Tuesday, and then clash with Nigeria in what could be an explosive encounter at the Stade Seyni Kountche on Friday.

The championship continues on Sunday with matches in the all –West African Group B, where Senegal, Mali, Ghana and Burkina Faso slug things out.
