Liberty Professionals line-up against Ebusua Dwarfs
Emmanuel Addo yesterday scored a brace to help Liberty Professionals beat Ebusua Dwarfs 4-0 in the Normalisation Committee’s Special Competition at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.
Two goals in each half ensured Liberty Professionals who were returning from a 1-3 loss in their first game against WAFA last Sunday, secured their first victory in the competition.
The host begun asking questions about the Dwarfs’ already sloopy defense which caved in the 15th minutes when defender Kwadwo Addai turn Emmanuel Addo’s cross into his own net.
Liberty took control of the mifield and dominated possession until the 24th minute when Michael Ampadu initiated an attack from midfield and spotted Elvis Baffour who set up Addo to tap into an empty net.
The combination of the trio excited the scanty fans on the pitch as they continued to terrorise the Dwarfs defense and to work extra hard until the 32nd minute when the visitors’ winger, Osman Mohammed, called goalkeerper,
Dida Fatao Alhassan to duty with a spectacular shot across the face of goal. Disaster struck the visitor on the stroke of half time when goalkeeper, Razak Issah was sent off for launching his stords into advancing Baffour at the edge of his penalty box.
The numerical disadvantage weighed down in the play of the already poor Dwarfs side whose only serious threat in the second half came in the 53rd minute when Simon Martey’s volley nearly caught Dida off guard.
But for that effort, Dwarf barely made any incursions into the goal area of Liberty. Instead it was the host who capitalised on their numerical strength to attack.
It paid off in the 70th minute when Addo scpred again after Ampadu had outwitted his markers and looped the ball over onrushing substitute goalkeeper, Danso Wiredu for Addo to tap home for his second goal.
Eight minutes later substitute Benjamine Eshun scored when he rifled home from a close range to seal victory for the host.
