The Black Queens of Ghana would kick start their journey in second edition of the WAFU Women’s Tournament Côte D’Ivoire tomorrow, as they lock horns with Senegal. Ahead of the game, the team has met with the media for a press conference.
Coach Mercy Tagoe says her team are seriously prepared and ready for the game tomorrow. Asked about what has been the team’s motivation, she said the team is their own motivation.
“We are very familiar with the astro turf” she replied , after being asked about the pitch tomorrow. She later revealed that, her team played on an astro turf during their preparations in Ghana.
The former FIFA referee also revealed that, working with a new team is no hindrance because she has 8 players who participated in the AWCON held in Ghana in her new team.
“Winning the maiden edition had put pressure on us” she later revealed. “We are the main target” she said
The goalkeeper’s trainer of the team, Raymond Feni said, “An old cat is always an old cat” when asked about who would be the favourite goalkeeper going into tomorrow’s game. He said Fafali Dumehasi would be the favourite though both Azume Adams and Barikisu Isshaku are also good.
Speaking ahead of the game tomorrow, the captain of the Queens, Fafali Dumehasi said, “I and my teammates are very ready for Senegal tomorrow”. “I always cheer them up” she replied, after she was asked about the rapport in camp.
