President of Ghana Premier League giant Ashanti Gold SC, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong says Kotoko were very lucky on Sunday to have lost 1-0.
The Obuasi ‘Oboa Kese’ side engaged Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in a regional derby of the GFA NC Special Competition.
Group A fourth placed Ashanti Gold SC won the Reds with a narrow 1-0 win despite the fact that they could have net twice before the end of first half.
However, Mark Agyekum second half screamer denied the Porcupine Warriors a point.
Champion as Dr. Kwaku Frimpong is commonly known in the football circles believes the Reds were very fortunate to concede just a goal.
We have many young players in the team so we decided to use a new team and I can tell you Kotoko were lucky they conceded only one goal”, Champion said in an interview with Ghana Kumasi-based Radio station Ashh FM.
We have decided to give the young players the chance to play because most of our Senior players will leave the club for teams in Europe”
He added that, ‘The Miners’ are taking game after game in the Normalization Committee special competition to ensure they qualify to the next stage of the competition.
The end will justify the means so Ashgold SC will take it match after match and see if we can qualify to the semi finals in the NC’s Special tournament”.
