The Harambe Stars of Kenya have qualified for an AFCON tournament for the first time in 15 years. They would battle it out with Senegal, Algeria and Tanzania in Group C of the AFCON 2019.
They currently occupy the 108th position on the FIFA ranking. They have only participated in only five (5) AFCON tournaments of which they have never qualified to the next round.
Their first participation came in 1972 where they drew 2 games and lost one. In 1988 in Morocco, they drew one game and lost two games.
They qualified for the tournament in 1990 and 1992 which took place in Algeria and Senegal respectively but they were sent home packing in both tournaments.
They qualified for the 1996 AFCON in South Africa but withdrew from the tournament. The last time the Harambee Stars were seen in an AFCON tournament was in 2004 in Tunisia where they were sent home packing again.
