Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens And Two Others Edges Closer to Super Four

Action resumed for the second stanza of the Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWPL) on Wednesday.

Rivers Angels bounced back from their Champions Shield defeat to Bayelsa Queens with an away victory over Osun Babes at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.

Vivian Ikechukwu scored the only goal of the game as the Jewel of Rivers stayed top of the table ahead of Delta Queens who lost 1-0 to FC Robo Queens.

In group B, Edo Queens and Adamawa Queens settled for a 0-0 draw at the Uniben Sports Complex while Heartland Queens recorded their first victory of the season against Dream Stars Ladies of Lagos. It ended 2-0 in Owerri.

Defending Champions Bayelsa Queens were handed their first defeat of the campaign by Sunshine Queens in a 1-0 loss while Kaduna Queens beat Nasarawa Amazons to record their first victory of the season in the group C with goals from Oluchi Onah and Chinwe Kadike.

Elsewhere, Confluence Queens forced Abia Angels to a 1-1 draw courtesy of Yina Adoo’s 82nd minute goal to deny the hosts maximum points. Ibom Angels defeat Invincible Angels 2-0 in Uyo.

With the results; Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Confluence Queens and Adamawa Queens are edging closer to the season ending Super 4.
