[Ghana] Ashantigold SC Beat Asante Kotoko on Penalties to Lift Trophy

AshantiGold SC triumphed over Asante Kotoko 4-3 on penalties to win the Benjamin Kyem Edusei Cup after a goalless draw game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today.

The game which involved Ghana’s representatives at CAF Inter Clubs competition this year had to be settled on penalties after both teams failed to score in 90 minutes of action.

Amos Kofi Nkrumah’s last kick won the game for the miners.

Ashantigold’s Richard Osei Agyemang picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Musah Mohammed after two minutes of action.

Godfred Asiamah went close to breaking the virginity of the game for the Porcupine Warriors but goalkeeper Frank Boateng of Ashgold saved it.

Augustine Okrah came on for Kingsley Osei while Mudasiru replaced Jordan Opoku to provide more attacking options for the Porcupines.

After trading tackles with each other for 90 minutes, the match had to be settled on penalties with AshGold emerging winners during the shootout.
