[Ghana] President Cup Match Preview: Strike vs Umbro

The President Cup is here again and the age-old rivalry between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko would be renewed this Sunday at the Baba Yara sports stadium. The two biggest club in Ghana would play in honour of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akuffo-Addo in the 2019 President Cup.

There are no injuries in the camp of the Porcupine Warriors . Coach Zachariassen would use this game as a litmus paper test before they face Etoile Du Sahel in the CAF Champions League in less than two weeks.

Prodigal striker, Sogne Yacouba is back in training. Felix Annan, Patrick Yeboah, Augustine Okrah, Ricard Arthur, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Justice Blay and Mudasiru Salifu are all back in training.

 

Hearts of Oak

After representing the Black Stars B team in the CHAN 2020 qualifiers, Joseph Esso, Manaf Umar, Mohammed Alhassan, Benjamin Afutu, Fatawu Mohammed and Benjamin Afutu have returned to the team with no injury.

 

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD
The two sides have met five times in the President Cup fixture(2005, 2015, 2016 and 2017) with Kotoko winning on three occasions.

Hearts last won this fixture in 2015 and Kotoko in 2017.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The last 3 President’s Cup matches between the two sides have been won on penalties. Kotoko winning 2 and Hearts of Oak 1

Hearts of Oak would be seeking to win their first major trophy since 2009 after winning the Glo Ghana Premier League.
