[Nigeria] CAF U-23 Qualifiers: Taiwo Awoniyi Speaks Ahead Of Sudan Clash

Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is very confident of getting a positive result on Tuesday against Sudan in the second leg of the CAF U-23 Nations Cup qualifiers.

Taiwo Awoniyi who speaks after training session said coach they are going to work as a team to get a positive result for the country.

“But unfortunately we lost the first leg in Sudan, like we always know and the world always know, there is another chance for the next game and we know how much”.

“This game is important for the country and not only for country but for ourselves as a player and everyone is ready to give everything we has for the country because everyone name is at stake here and we sure by the grace of God we put in our best and have the victory by God grace”.

The Olympic Eagles will need to overturned the 1-0 scoreline to book their spot in the 2019 CAF U-23 Nations Cup in Egypt.

The U-23 Eagles are the defending champions of the U-23 Nations Cup after winning the first edition in 2015 and the Eagles striker is sure of victory over the Sudan.

“Well like I always said the most important thing is play as team is not about who score the goal, the most important thing is the team to get the goal, as a striker our goal is to get the goals for the team, this is our job , this is where we are looking up to and for sure”.

I believe Stephen Odey me and the rest of the team, the coach is training everyone to be ready to fight for the team and make sure we win the three points, it doesn’t matter who score the goals for the team but the most important thing is the victory for the team and this is what we are looking up to”.

Nigeria U-23 Eagles will up against Sudan in the return leg of the CAF U-23 qualifiers on Tuesday September 10 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba.
