Maxwell Konadu, head coach of the Local Black Stars has not given up his side’s dream of qualifying for the African Nations Champion in Cameroon.
Black Stars B lost 1-0 to Burkina Faso at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the first leg of the CHAN 2020 qualifier through Stephanen Pognongo goal in stoppage time.
Ghana were eliminated by this same opponent, after the Stallions qualified on 4-3 aggregate on a ticket of West Zone B for the African Championship 2018 in Morocco.
Black Stars has a daunting task in Burkina Faso but Maxwell Konadu is hopeful his side can qualify against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.
“This is a first leg, we still have another 90 minutes and I strongly believe anything can happen in Burkina. I believe we have a good team and we can cause a surprise to any team on the continent. I still believe in the squad that we can also go there and cause havoc.
We were well composed. We played well, the goals just couldn’t come. We want to put Ghana in the CHAN. We will do everything in our power to go to Ouagadougou and beat them there.”
Burkina Faso host Ghana for the return leg in Burkina on October 20.
The winner will qualifier on West Zone B ticket for the 2020 African Nations Championship in Cameroon.
