The Super Falcons of Nigeria were held to a goalles draw by the Ivorian ladies in the first leg of the third round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers in Abidjan.
The Ivorians dominated the opening stages of the encounter but were unable to convert their chances.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria came close in breaking the deadlock in the 25th minutes when Captain Oshoala misses from close range that could have put the visitors in front.
The Super Falcons whom started off sluggishly managed to avoid conceding early before picking up in the latter stage as Regina Otu makes a poor finishing after putting up a fine run to the host area.
Rasheedat Ajibade replaced Ngozi Okobi in the second half as Nigeria quest for a goal continue but Asisat Oshoala misses another chance to put Nigeria in front.
Ivorian came close in taking the lead in the 85th minutes but Chiamaka Nnadozie makes a superb save to deny the host victory as Falcons finished the game with 10 players after Amarachi Okoronkwo received a second booking in the added minutes.
The return leg is scheduled to take place at the Agege Township stadium in Lagos on Monday October 7.
