The Harambee Stars of Kenya have consoled themselves by finishing third in the ongoing Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup after a 2-1 victory against Tanzania at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo.
Kenya took a 2-0 first-half lead, following goals from Kenneth Muguna in the 15th minute and Abdalla Hassan in the 36th minute.
Gadiel Michael Kamagi gave the Tanzanians their lone goal in the 82nd minute, but failed to find the equalizer to finish fourth.
Francis Kimanzi’s men were pre-tournament favorites but were crashed out in the semifinals after a shock 4-1 loss at the hands of surprises package Eritrea.
Tanzania, on the other hand, were bundled out by hosts of Uganda courtesy of Fahad Bayo’s lone strike.
Hosts Uganda, who are the tournament’s most successful team, will battle Eritrea in the finals, hoping to add one more title later on the day.
