Moreover, the FKF is in receipt of communication from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requesting the federation to furnish CAF with the status of the Kenyan leagues and strategies the federation intends to apply to finalize the leagues, which have remained suspended since March 2020, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this regard, the federation has effectively cancelled the following FKF leagues, the Kenyan Premier League, the Betika National Super League, the FKF National Division One League, the FKF Division Two leagues and all FKF grass-root Leagues, while the Women Premier League and the Women Division One league have both been nullified.
The extra ordinary step has been reluctantly arrived at, in an effort aimed at safeguarding the well-being, safety and good health of the thousands of football players, Technical Bench members, fans and the general Kenyan public.
In light of the aforementioned and guided by Rule 184.108.40.206 of the Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football “Where the league format due to circumstances of force majeure fails to be completed within the season, the league winner shall be determined as follows; Where all the Clubs in the league have completed the first round fixture but less than 75% league games have been played, the table standings at the end of the first round shall be considered as the final table standing of the league.”
As enumerated below:
1. Kenyan Premier League – 2019/2020 Season.
FKF hereby declares Gor Mahia FC the Kenyan Premier League Champions for 2019/2020 Season. The team shall represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League 2020/2021 Season.
Chemelil Sugar FC and Sony Sugar FC are relegated to the Betika National Super League 2020/2021 Season. Kisumu Allstars FC will play Vihiga United FC in the KPL/NSL Promotion/Relegation playoff.
2. Betika National Super League – 2019/2020 Season.
FKF hereby declares Nairobi City Stars FC the Betika National Super League Champions for 2019/2020 Season. Nairobi City Stars FC and Bidco United FC are automatically promoted to the Kenyan Premier League 2020/2021 season.
Vihiga United FC shall play Kisumu Allstars FC in the KPL/NSL Play-off Match depending on the Covid 19 situation in the country and lifting of government regulations towards the same.
Administration Police FC, St. Joseph’s Youth FC, and Northern Wanderers FC are hereby relegated to the FKF Division One League 2020/2021 Season.
3. FKF Division One League Zone A – 2019/2020 Season.
FKF hereby declare Mwatate United FC the 2019/2020 FKF Division One – Zone A League Champions. The team earns automatic promotion to the Betika National Super League 2020/2021 Season.
Makueni Nunguni FC, Strathmore University FC, and Green Berets FC are relegated from the FKF Division One Zone A 2019/2020 Season to the FKF Division Two League 2020/2021 Season.
4. FKF Division One League Zone B – 2019/2020 Season.
FKF hereby declares Silibwet FC the FKF Division One Zone B 2019/2020 Champions. The team earns automatic promotion to the Betika National Super League 2020/2021 Season.
MMUST FC, Raiply FC & St. Joseph’s Youth FC are relegated from the FKF Division One Zone B 2019/2020 season to the FKF Division Two League 2020/2021 Season.
The Second-placed teams in both Zones i.e. MCF FC and Soy United FC shall meet in the FKF Division One Playoff match to determine the third team to be promoted to the Betika National Super League 2020/2021 Season.
5. Kenya Women Premier League – 2020 Season.
The Kenya Women Premier League 2020 Season having only been played for one Round and is hereby nullified as per Rule 220.127.116.11. of the Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football, “Where the league format due to circumstances of force majeure fails to be completed within the season, the league winner shall be determined as follows; Before each and every club has completed its first-round fixture the league shall be declared null and void.”
Most importantly, FKF intends to kick-off the 2020/2021 season in September 2020 pending the public health directives from the Government.
The federation continues to urge all its members and supporters to adhere to Government’s directives in regard to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, by complying fully with public health regulations put in place by the Ministry Head.
