The Confederation of Africa Football have postponed the 2021 Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon to January 2022.
This was announced during the CAF Executive meeting on Tuesday June 30th.
This decision follows UEFA’s decision to move the 2020 European Championship to next year, and CONMEBOL’s decison to delay the 2020 Copa America to 2021 too.
The qualifiers scheduled for September have already been postponed with only two rounds of matches played, while the 2022 World Cup qualifiers are slated for October and November.
The Coronavirus pandemic has halted football and sports activities since March with few countries back to playing football but behind closed doors.
The 2020 Africa Women Nations with no host country was also canceled with the introduction of CAF Women Champions League which will commence next year.
CAF’s executive committee also confirmed that CHAN 2020 has been moved to next year, while the CAF Champions League semi-final fixture will now just be one match instead of a two-legged tie.
