The Zambian league rolls back into action this afternoon (Saturday 18/07/20) with a double header at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium with National Division outfit Kitwe United facing Police College while table toppers Forest Rangers host Zanaco in a 15:00 hours kick off.
Football has been on ice since March 19, 2020 when the covid-19 struck in Zambia.
However, joint efforts between FAZ and government authorities have been hard at work to lay ground for the return of the games.
In the Super League the focus will be on Zanaco who are unbeaten in the league since Chris Kaunda took over in early January with seven wins and a draw.
Forest enjoys a one point lead ahead of Napsa Stars on 46 points.
The bankers lie in tenth place and trail Forest by eleven points.
Zanaco will launch their first of their four game rescheduled dates over the next fortnight with fourth placed Nkana next Wednesday in Kitwe, a tricky Lusaka home derby against Kaunda’s ex-charges Nkwazi on July 26, before wrapping up their backlog away against third placed and last season’s runners-up Green Eagles on July 29.
Health authorities are on the ground in Ndola with Zambia National Public Health Institute director Dr Raymond Hamoonga in Ndola to make sure of strict adherence to covid-19 preventive measures.
The games are being played behind closed doors with SuperSport beaming the matches live.
On Sunday defending champions Zesco United host Kansasnhi Dynamos while Buildcon will take on Power Dynamos in the second match of the day at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
